AARO will be responsible for gathering and analyzing reports from the US Army, Navy, and Air Force.

“The mission of AARO will be to align efforts across the Department of Defense and with other US federal departments and agencies to detect, identify, and assign attribution to objects of interest in, on, or near military installations, operational areas, training sites, special use airspace, and other relevant locations, while also addressing potential threats to operational safety and national security,” the Pentagon stated in a

“This encompasses anomalous, unidentified space, aerial, submerged, and transmedium objects.”
