UFO-shaped
cloud in a Turkish city left observers stunned and became a sensation on social media.
The enormous rose-tinted cloud appeared over Bursa in the northwest of the country last Thursday, according to Reuters.
Meteorologists classified the unusual weather phenomenon as a lenticular, or lens, cloud.
These clouds typically form at altitudes between 2000m and 5000m.
The cloud’s colors shifted as it interacted with the sun’s light.
Commentators on social media likened the peculiar cloud to a UFO.
“I wished so badly for that to be an alien ship,” remarked one user on Twitter.
As per Turkey’s Meteorological Directorate, lens clouds typically form when air flows over high terrain, such as mountains, causing water vapor to condense in shapes that resemble the underlying landscape.
The cloud images were captured at sunset, with witnesses stating that it maintained its remarkable shape for about an hour.
